Sports Car or Family Truckster?
This episode is the second in a series about examining your values, or as I’m now calling it “Values Realignment” - more on that later. It’s a part of an ongoing conversation my brother, Jeremy Sutton and I - both aging athletes - have been having for a while about how our values around things like competition and connection have changed as we’ve gotten older in order for us to continue making the most of our life trips.
How - or even whether - we play sports as we age is just one way that our values affect our decisions and our activities. What are some ways you could benefit from assessing and realigning your values to where you are now in your life?

Come Sail Away
Part 2 of a series on the power of Honoring Your Values, this episode is a conversation with friend and fellow coach, Sean Forrester, in which we talk about boats. Yes, boats... as metaphors for values that drive our life trips. For example, traveling by sailboat has benefits and costs (advantages and disadvantages) that are somewhat different from traveling by power boat. And if your imagination is starting to "travel" in that direction right now, then check out this episode!
The series is intended to get you thinking about your highest values and how well they are serving you in getting you where you want to be in your life. A classic example would be having a high value on freedom or independence, and having a job that might pay well but feels restrictive or even oppressive. You certainly could consider changing jobs; or you might consider shifting values at least temporarily. What might change for you if you chose to make financial security a higher value... just for now? How might that actually lead to being able to truly explore your freedom and independence later?

This episode is about examining our values - the benefits of clarifying our values, and the ways that our values can sometimes make it tough for us to see clearly or to get where we really want to go. Kind of like having one or more cracks in your windshield!
It's the first in a series intended to help make connections between our values and self-awareness. This one's a solo episode in which I define values, explain what happens when we aren't very clear about our highest values (short version: we get stuck!), and suggest a process to begin exploring your values. I also make a special offer for some free coaching to help with that process.

How's Your Tour Guide?
This episode is about ways to begin to better hear and pay attention to your intuition, that other inner voice, the one that gets crowded out by things like over-thinking, busyness, or fear of showing emotion. It's for those of you whose Tour Guide is great with the rational, the quantifiable, but who may experience “paralysis by analysis.”
How might your life trip be different if your inner Tour Guide paid as much attention to your intuition as to your intellect?
Powerful Questions Include:
Do you see life as a journey or as a destination? What if it's not an either/or? A conversation with my friend and fellow coach, Sean Forrester, offers another possibility!
7 Long-Haired Friends of Jesus
This episode of is for those who, as the band U2 put it some years ago, still haven’t found what they’re looking for when it comes to spirituality. A solo episode - my own thoughts as a former pastor and now coach about pursuing a more spiritual life - however you define that.
Pimpin Your Ride
Love music, art, writing or some other creative venture, but don't feel like you're spending enough of your time or energy engaged in it? This interview with my friend - musician, pastor, and coach Bryan McFarland may be just what you need to help you change your trip!
Ever been in a place in your life where it felt like suddenly all the wind was gone from your sails? Stuck, with no sense of motivation, enthusiasm, or energy? This episode is for you! How can you tell if you're becalmed? What are some things you can do about it?
This episode features a new approach to my solo ventures in which - wait for it! - I interview myself. And if I do say so myself, I'm a pretty good interviewer of myself. Or so my self is telling me.
Stepping Onto the Road - Part 1
When you're afraid to move on in your life, to take the next step, to try something new when the old hasn't been working for you - that's kind of the definition of "stuck." And being stuck has a lot to do with our fear of being vulnerable. This is the first of my two-part interview with professional certified coach, Gayle Greenslade Ely. Building on the work of Brené Brown, Gayle shares some of her own story and gives us a closer look at ways we avoid vulnerability - and the costs of doing so. If you or someone you know is stuck in some area of life, this interview may offer some new perspectives or possibilities!
Stepping Onto the Road - Part 2
Second part of my interview with Gayle Greenslade-Ely about Vulnerability. Great stuff!
